Advisory

Over the years we have been advancing in our knowledge of disability & access and facilities. By training our disabled and non disabled trustees and primary team we have been able to amass a huge range of skill sets that can be applied in the angling world. Countries such as France, South Africa, Canada, Florida USA, Southern & Northern Ireland, Ilse of Mann, Australia have all approached us seeking advice as to how they can take our example and relate it to their own circumstances either to produce an organisation with similar aims and objectives or create an accessible angling environment. Fisheries and individuals have approached us for us to represent them in planning applications, support in cases of discrimination or to act as mediation when anglers and clubs cant resolve or understand the needs and rights of disabled people in angling.

Testimonial to British Disabled Angling Association

My name is Riaan Bornman and  I stay in South Africa. I am a Quadriplegic as I dived into a river and broke my neck 11years ago.  In 2015 I decided to take up angling again but did not want to fish social only but competitive also.

I was appointed by SAFBAF ( South African Freshwater Bank Angling Federation) to be South Africa Coordinator for Disabled Anglers. At this stage I had no clue about rules and regulations to make our organization for disabled anglers grow to a stage where we can compete against each other.

I searched the internet for hours and found some blogs  but nothing that really helped. I kept on searching and found BDAA website which I emailed not thinking anybody would come back to me as i was running into closed doors the hole time. To my surprise Terry Moseley emailed me back and we started chatting on a regular basis as Terry Moseley with BDAA have allot of knowledge and shared everything with me.  Our type of fishing is not the same as BDAA which is mostly Pole fishing but Terry Moseley and BDAA team gave me enough information to build our foundation and keep on building this project.

Two years later South Africa had their first big event where 7 provinces inside South Africa completed against each other at the 2016 South African Championship for Disabled Anglers. Thank you Terry Moseley and the BDAA team for all your help. Maybe in future we will grow in such a way that we can compete internationally against your country.

Kind regards, Riaan Bornman, Coordinator  for Disabled Anglers in South Africa

Testimonial Canada

I feel fishing will always be a growing segment CharterAbility service. Terry Mosely and the British Disabled Angling Association were instrumental in the early years. A picture of Terry fishing on the stern of http://www.mvfreedom.co.uk/ was used in our Human Resources Development Canada feasibility study over 16 years ago. Seeing a guy with a disability (Fellow wheelchair user) was certainly affirmation I could startCharterAbility. Thank you Terry!
