Our team wanted to try fly fishing, but being mainly coarse fish orientated at the time they didnt want to seem unorthodox to the game fishing art.

In order to overcome this they decided to look into coarse fishing but using fly fishing as the theme. First idea was to try fishing for coarse species like roach using artificial casters the stage in the life of a maggot before it mutates into a fly, the results were extremely good and not only catching roach but also small carp.

Taking the method a stage further the BDAA team then developed carp on the fly fishing at Woodlands View fishery with the permission from owner Mike Mason, using pellet flies made of deer hair they began catching larger carp and so needed to step up the fly gear to salt water fly fishing tackle, the idea soon caught on and BDAA used the new method to integrate disability into their sport by inviting a fly fishing club to join them on an arranged day at the fishery to fish alongside the disabled carp fly angers, the day was a complete success and has led to many other groups using similar methods to bring together coarse and game anglers showing that disabled angling can be used in any method of fishing and still be fun.

So successful was this experiment that Sky Sports Tight Lines programme hosted by Keith Arthur filmed the guys at Teglan fisheries in Wales so more people could see the BDAA success on Television.a
